ABOUT US

We have been called to: strengthen and support the growing Siberian Evangelical Lutheran Church – an indigenous Russian Lutheran Church.

While Lutheranism is not new to this vast land, the privilege of being both a Lutheran and a Russian is now possible. We will not squander this opportunity to support and grow the Lutheran church in Russia. With the encouragement of members and clergy of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) we formed a 501c3 not-for-profit organization in 2002 in the State of Indiana. The Siberian Lutheran Mission Society (SLMS) helps our confessionally Lutheran brothers and sisters to live and grow, for the obstacles they face are staggering.

Today there are 13 ordained pastors and deacons who serve sixteen congregations and five mission/preaching stations across 3000 miles and six time zones in Siberia.

It is the goal of The Siberian Lutheran Mission Society to do all we can to assist our Lutheran pastors and saints in Siberia to meet and face the seemingly insurmountable challenges of Word and Sacrament ministry.

The confessional Lutheran church in Russia continues to be a bright hope for the Gospel. Dedicated pastors and laity are continuing to share the message of Christ across the vast reaches of Siberia and beyond.”
- Rev. L. Daniel Johnson, President, SLMS, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hillsdale, MI
